Announcements April 23, 2017

1. Please join us for a time of refreshments and fellowship in the lower level of the sanctuary following the service.

2. Please keep all in our congregation who are ill or recovering from surgery in your thoughts and prayers.

3. THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 23, we are asked to pray for the mission and ministry of of the Ailsa Craig Pastoral Charge, consisting of Ailsa Craig, Brinsley, and Carlisle United Churches. We are also asked to pray for the well-being, compassion, strength, and joy of Dawn Hill. This is an anniversary of sorts for these prayers, which were started January 5, 2014. We now begin the 5th cycle through all the pastoral charges and ministries in Middlesex Presbytery! Thank you for your participation in this prayer ministry.

4. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Eleanor Greeniaus, who passed away on Monday morning.

5. There will be a Congregational meeting following a shortened church service on May 7, to discuss and approve our new Governance Manual and Policies.

6. ROAD CLEAN-UP TIME AGAIN: Looking for volunteers to help with this project. Meet at 9:00 AM, Sat. April 29 at the Legion parking lot (east side) to collect your safety jacket, garbage bag & directions. Wear outdoor clothing & lots of ambition. Notify Marj MacMillan 519-269-9632 of your intention to join us. THANKYOU!

7. There is a workshop on Tuesday, April 25th at Wesley-Knox United Church to make more Poverty Dolls for the 'end-child-poverty' project. Plans are being made to take 338 dolls (need to be made first) to the Federal Government in Ottawa in the fall. Ability to sew is not necessary but using a pencil &/or a pair of scissors is helpful. If you're interested in this adventure, it will be fun, talk to Cathy Baskerville or Marj MacMillan. See you.

This will be the twenty third year for our "Good Neighbour Project" on the June Urquhart farm. We have a three-year crop rotation of corn, soybeans and wheat on the field. This year, we are planting corn. The Pioneer Seed Corn Company, through sales representative Curtis Gartly, has donated enough seed corn to plant the whole field. It is through your cash donations, U.C.W. group and church donations, seed for the project, harvesting the field and memorial donations, support from the "Blessing of the Earth" Service and all other contributions that keep the project going from one year to the next. Because of this, we are able to help feed people in the world who are less fortunate than us. Our Committee was saddened at the passing of Dr. Ross Green, one of our founding members. The "Good Neighbour Barbecue" will be held Sunday, July 30th at Brown's United Church.
