3. UCW NEWS: As many of you in the congregation may know, the United Church Women of Dorchester United Church is 'retiring' the end of December 2018. There is to be a Service of Closure for UCW on Sunday, November 18. The UCW are inviting members of the congregation to recall their personal memories of UCW events or anecdotes of humour or memorable times related to UCW over the years. These memories can be written out and given to a UCW member or sent to the church office, by November 14th. These may later be shared at the service on November 18th. We sincerely appreciate the help, support and friendship of all members of this congregation over the years. We will continue to be an active part of this congregation for many more years! The United Church Women Thank You All.
4. CHRISTMAS DINNER: Linda Arthur of Village Catering will once again provide us with a delicious turkey dinner at 6 pm on Saturday, November 24th. It is a great social time when we don't have to be in the kitchen preparing food or doing dishes.
Tickets are available today .
Adults $20, Children 6 to 12 $10, 5 and under are free< .
5. SONGS OF REMEMBRANCE: Sunday, November 11th at 1:30 pm at St. George's Anglican Church, 172 King St. in Thorndale. A musical dedication to all who have served. The Thames Centre Community Choir presents a concert of remembrance with a collection of wartime and familiar songs under the direction of Kaitlyn Kasha and Olivia Adams. Donations appreciated.
6. RINGING OF THE BELLS: ON NOVEMBER 11, at the going down of the sun, communities across Canada will mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War with the ringing of 100 bells. The ringing of bells emulates the moment in 1918 when church bells across Europe tolled as four years of war had come to an end. Dorchester United will lead a prayer and ring our bell 100 times with other bells around the village, province, and country.
