Announcements December 1, 2019
Please join us for a time of refreshments and fellowship in the lower level of the sanctuary following the service.
1. WEDNESDAY MORNING COFFEE: Every Wednesday, at 10 am. Come and catch up on the news, be a taste tester of the baking and have many laughs. Everyone is welcome.
PLEASE CONSIDER SIGNING UP TO GREET on a Sunday morning on the clipboard at the rear of the church. You are helping to make our congregation feel welcome to our worship service. Thank you.
3. THE PROPERTY COMMITTEE has been changing light bulbs in the sanctuary on a very old, unstable wooden ladder. We value the members of this committee and, for safety reasons, a new fiberglass ladder, which has been priced at approximately $450, is needed. For more details, please talk to Bob, Ernie, George or Wayne.
4. HANDEL'S MESSIAH, Oxford Collegium Singers, Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 7:30 Knox Presbyterian Church, 59 Riddell St. Woodstock, ON N4S 6M2. Tickets are $20 in advance. $25 at the door.
5. PIES FOR SALE: Apple, blueberry, raspberry and cherry pies are available. Large frozen pies are $8 and small are $4. Please see Cathy for purchases.
6. SOX IN THE BOX is making a return in memory of the late Herb Summers. Herb loved Christmas and always enjoyed wearing colourful, snazzy socks. In his honour, we plan to collect boxes of new socks to be donated in our community and to area shelters. Please find donation boxes at the back of the sanctuary and at the east door throughout the season.
7. PHOTOGRAPHS are taken throughout the year at church events and may be posted on our website, in the Signpost or on Facebook. Announcements regarding photographs will be made at our events and anyone is welcome to decline having their picture posted.
8. CE (CHRISTIAN EDUCATION) FACILITATOR - we are excited to welcome Ashley Barran, who will be leading our children in learning on Sunday mornings. Ashley grew up in Dorchester and is currently in her 3rd year at Wilfrid Laurier University in the Youth and Children's Studies Program. She has extensive experience with children of all ages, having worked with the well-known summer Dorchester Playground program as well as Brownies and Girl Guides. She hopes to become a primary teacher and is excited to have this opportunity to share her love for children and their eagerness to learn. Please give Ashley a warm Dorchester United Church welcome.
9. EXCITING HAPPENINGS FOR THE YOUNG AND YOUNG AT HEART AT DUC: We are so excited about the new initiatives and happenings at our church! Ashley Barran, an energetic Christian Education Facilitator, is joining us to work with the children on Sunday mornings. We have already hosted 3 Messy Church events and we are invited to come with our Teddy Bears and in our favourite pyjamas on Christmas Eve.
10. FINANCIAL INFORMATION: As of the end of November 2019, our weekly offerings are down from this time last year by 10.7%. In order to help support and sustain exciting new ideas and programs like those mentioned above, your DUC Board trusts that you will give prayerful thought to generously supporting through weekly and special offerings. CHRISTMAS OFFERING ENVELOPES can be found in the pews and at the back of the sanctuary. Many thanks for your financial contributions
11. POPCANS: Keep them coming! Cans can be dropped off at Ernie Reid's, 4356 Hamilton Road or left at the rear of the sanctuary.
