HYMN "We Plough the Fields" V.U. 520

SCRIPTURE READING: Mark 10: 13-16

13 People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them. 14 But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, "Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. 15 Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it." 16 And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.

INVITATION

Order of World Communion

Leader : Today, Lord and Saviour, around the world.
People: All your people lift up their voices in praise and thanksgiving to you.
Leade r: Today with all Christians around the world open your hearts and spirits to God and give him thanks.
People: Today, with all our brothers and sister in Christ throughout the world it is right for us to give him thanks and praise.
Leader : Almighty God, creator, sustainer and lover of the whole of creation - the universe and this world.
People: Thank you for our world. Thank you for creating us in your image. Thank you for loving and caring for all within your creation.
Leader : But our greatest thanks is for what you have done in and through Jesus your son.
People: He came to show us the way to abundant living. He died and rose again to make it possible for us to enter into this abundant living and to be in love with you again.
You are an awesome God!
Leader : And so around the world today all your people acknowledge your greatness and goodness.
People: We thank you, God. We thank you.
Everything reveals how great and good you are. We worship you
Leader :
Before you, God, by what we do here,
We celebrate the life and death of Jesus Christ;
We declare our faith that he is alive and master of all;
We witness to the hope that he will come again.
People:
Come, Lord Jesus, come.
Leader :
So it is we do what Jesus did the night he was betrayed.
He took bread, thanked you, broke the bread and gave it to his followers, saying.
"Take, eat, this is my body".
He also took the cup, saying.
"This is my blood, the blood of the new covenant." strong>
People:
Worthy is Christ, Christ the sacrificed, to be praised and served.
Minister :
Send your Holy Spirit, God, on us and what we do
That as we break bread and drink wine we may be united with Christ,
He in us and we in Him,
That we who are many may be one in him.
Make us strong in faith and love
That we may become truly human as Christ was truly human.
Minister and People:
As our Lord Jesus Christ offered himself to you,
O God, we offer ourselves to you,
As your people have done before, as they still do everywhere.
Use us as you will
That we may die to self to live for you.
Accept us.
Accept what we have said and done here.
We have no right to ask this.
But Christ was born and died for us.
We ask it then in his name.
Minister :
(Lifting the bread and breaking it)
The body of Christ broken for you.
(Lifting the cup)
The blood of Christ shed for you.
After the communion has been distributed.
All:
For the bread we have eaten,
for the wine we have tasted,
for the life we have received,
we thank you, God.
Grant that what we have done
and have been given here
may so put its mark upon us
that it may remain always in our hearts.
Grant that we may become mature Christians,
that ours may be the faith which issues in action;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
