DORCHESTER UNITED CHURCH

NEWSLETTER - JUNE 2016

Spring-a time for new beginnings, flowers are blooming, the trees' leaves are opening and it is trying to get warmer all of a sudden. At Dorchester United Church we have had many new beginnings, a new minister, new choir music, youth Sundays, cushions on the seats and now much-needed new front steps. There are new flowers and bushes in our beds at the front and side of the church. We are a very fortunate congregation to have so many volunteers willing to take on these beginnings. We thank you all for all your work. We also thank God for giving us these wonderful volunteers both outside and inside the church.

As summer approaches let us not forget that all these beginnings take time and money. If you are not on PAR, now might be a good time to start as it ensures that the church can continue to do the good work that is God's will. - Mary Kaiser, Chair.

UPDATES

Pew Cushions - Our Board has approved the purchase and installation of pew cushions. Breaking this down, the cost is approximately $300 per pew, which translates into $38.00 a person. If you wish to support the purchase of these cushions please submit a cheque made out to the church with "Memorial Fund - pews" in the subject line. The United Church Women Group is also helping with the cost of these cushions through a memorial donation in memory of members we have lost in the last few years.

Front Steps - Repair is being completed on the front steps of the church with the contract company starting this week -- a much needed repair. Thank you to the Property Committee for looking after this.
