WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP
Let us rejoice and celebrate the life within us, for Christ is in the midst
of us.
The present will have new meaning and the future will be bright with
hope.
Let us rejoice and be obedient before the One who is our wisdom and our
strength.
We come before God that we may be touched and cleansed by the power of
God's Spirit.
OPENING PRAYER (IN UNISON)
God of peace and love, we are here to commit our lives to peace in our
world and in our communities. Show us how we may continue that peace in
our families and among our friends. Let that peace live in our hearts
and in our relationship with You. We remember all who suffer risk to
bring peace in the broken places of our world. May we become
peacemakers willing to sacrifice our comfort, our reputation, even our
life so that justice may be done. We pray in the name of the Prince of
Peace. AMEN
HYMN:
"Come, let us sing" V.U. 222
SERVICE OF LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE
The light dawns with the coming of each new day.
May we live in its glow as a sign that God has come
among us.
ANTHEM
"Homage"
PRAYER OF CONFESSION (IN UNISON)
God of justice , we confess that too often our worship is empty and
hollow. We recite easy words and perform familiar rituals. We are
afraid of speaking justice to those in power. We find ourselves more
concerned with seeking material wealth than with doing Your will. Too
often we worry about the physical condition of our homes than with the
quality of family life within them. In the end we find ourselves so
exhausted by all we do, that we cannot find the energy or the time to
challenge the systems that oppress us. Help us, O God, to relate more
fully in our homes, congregations and communities. AMEN
WORDS OF ASSURANCE
God loves us so we may love others. God is merciful so we may show mercy.
God calls us children that we may be sisters and brothers to one another.
May our lives be made new in that knowledge.
John McCrae's Poem "In Flanders Fields" Martha Gwalchmai

OFFERING INVITATION
OFFERTORY RESPONSE:
For food in a world where many walk in hunger,
for friends in a world where many walk alone,
for faith in a world where many walk in fear,
we give you thanks, O God. V.U.552
OFFERTORY PRAYER: Faith is revealed in the way we serve. Love is
expressed in the way we share. May we be faithful in our serving and
loving in our giving. For we offer these gifts in Your Name even as we
ask for Your blessing.
