Dorchester United Church 5th SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY FEBRUARY 9, 2020 WE GATHER TO PRAISE GOD
ACKNOWLEGEMENT OF THE LAND
Gathering together we walk the history of a healing journey, acknowledging
the church's role in the suffering of our Indigenous brothers and sisters,
recognizing that apologies are necessary, not only once, but time and again
to educate our people of ongoing injustices and the work to renew
respectful relationships. We pay our respect to the original caretakers of
the land by acknowledging that we live and worship on the traditional lands
of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak, and Attawandaron
peoples, on lands connected with the London Township and Sombra Treaties of
1796 and the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum
MUSIC PRELUDE
(We invite you to quiet reflection and
preparation for worship)
CALL TO WORSHIP:
You whom I have taken from the end of the earth, and called from its
furthest regions, and to whom I have said you are my children, I have
chosen you and have not forgotten you.
Behold my people whom I uphold,my chosen ones in whom my soul delights.
I have put my spirit upon you.
You will bring justice to the world.
You will bring forth justice for truth.
You will not fail or be discouraged till you have brought justice in the
earth.
I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness and will hold your hand; I
will keep you and give you as a covenant to the people, as a light to the
world, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from prison.
I am the Lord, that is my name, and my glory I will not give to another.
Behold the former things have come to pass, and new things
I declare. (based on Isaiah 41 and 42)
UNISON PRAYER
God of love, peace, and unity, we thank you for welcoming us all just as we are; for making us equal as your children and for giving us your blessings as your children; and for making us belong. We pray that you help us realize that we are all made in your image, and we need to bring peace to all your creation as one people who belong to you. We ask all this through Christ our brother. Amen.
- The Rev. Wilson Gonese
PASSING OF THE PEACE The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you.

LORD'S PRAYER
ANTHEM:
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
CREED : We are not alone,
we live in God's world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God's presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
