163RD ANNIVERSARY AND COMMUNION SUNDAY OCTOBER 20, 2019
Dorchester United Church
WE GATHER TO PRAISE GOD
ACKNOWLEGEMENT OF THE LAND

We acknowledge that we worship and live on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Attawandaron (Neutral), and Wedat peoples. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties.

MUSIC PRELUDE (We invite you to quiet reflection and preparation for worship)

CALL TO WORSHIP:
The years carry on,
And we carry on in worship and community.
The years move forward
We develop and build and reap and grow.
The years pass and we watch
We see bountiful harvests,
We watch our children grow.
We watch sunrise and sunset.
We sail the beautiful journey that is life,
the highs and lows of the waves.
Witness to your glory in creation.

PASSING OF THE PEACE-
The Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God, and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you…
And also with you

As you are able and comfortable, let us make peace with one another.

HYMN "I Love to Tell the Story" V.U. 343
(Please Remain Standing for the Sanctus)
SANCTUS (Holy, Holy, Holy V.U. 315 verse 1)
Children are welcomed to the front of the Sanctuary for Children's Time during the Sanctus.
CHIDREN'S TIME
LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE
Jesus Christ is the light of the world.
Jesus is our friend who loves us always

PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
ONE: Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.
ALL: Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned
against you in thought, word, and deed by what we have done and by what we left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways to the glory of your name. Amen.
ONE: Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in internal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
ALL: Amen.

*CREED We are not alone,
we live in God's world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.

We trust in God
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God's presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.

Thanks be to God.
