WE GATHER TO PRAISE GOD
TO PONDER:
Colossians 4:5-6 (NLT)
Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every
opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you
will have the right response for everyone.

A PRAYER OF APPROACH
SUNG RESPONSE
Search me, O God, and know my heart today,
Try me, O Saviour, know my thoughts, I pray;
See if there be some brokenness in me;
Cleanse me from every wrong, and set me free.
SERVICE OF LIGHTING THE CANDLE:
Leader: We light the Christ Candle today to remind us that just as Jesus
was baptised and sent into the world to show and tell God's good news of
forgiveness and love, so we have been baptised to do the same. Jesus'
mission is our mission.
PSALM MEDITATION: PSALM 29
Meditation from Psalms Now by Leslie Brandt
We need to give credit to whom credit is due. God is alive, and he deserves
our perpetual praises. There is reason for rejoicing. There is a God to
worship and love.
His beauty is manifest in the skies and the forests. His power is
represented in the sweep of the ocean. His Majesty is portrayed in the
gigantic bodies suspended in our universe. The wind and the rain, the
lightning and the thunder, the creatures that inhabit our world, the
flowers that brighten our lives-all this comes from God's hand. The glory
is not ours but cards.
Even the achievements of human hand, mind, and machine come by way of the
wisdom and power of the eternal God. The contributions of science, the
fields right for harvest, the control of our rivers, the activity of our
cities, the establishment of our great institutions-these also reflect the
glory of God.
Let us give credit to whom credit is due. Let us rejoice in the God who
blesses us. Let us seek his grace to serve him by serving others with the
abundance that he bestows upon us.

A CREED
(inspired by Mark 1:9-11, Matthew 3:13-17, Luke 3:21-23, Galatians 3:27,
Romans 6:3-6)
I believe in God who speaks through the prophets and lifts our gaze up to
high and beautiful paths and peaks.
I believe in Christ Jesus, free of corruption yet willingly numbered
among the sinners, baptised in the waters of the Jordan.
I believe in the Spirit who rested on Jesus like a dove, and who inspired
him with such love as the world has not seen before or since.
I believe that those who are baptised into Christ shall share his
Spirit, his mission and his ultimate victory over sin and death.
I believe that there is no human ability that cannot be enlarged, and no
weakness that cannot be used by Christ to the praise of God.
I believe that this believing is a gift from God, not to be used for
self-gratification but for the building up of the church and for humble
service in the world.
I believe in myself as a baptised child of God, the recipient of a healing
grace which precedes and supersedes all my efforts to be true.
With the help of God,
I will attempt to live my belief all the days of my life, and by his
grace, dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Amen! And we continue to pray as Jesus taught us saying…

COMMISSIONING AND BLESSING
As people of faith we have gathered for worship.
As people of faith we now return to the world.
Go out to share the story of faith,
the story of life, with the world around you.
We share the faith in word and in deed, in speech and in action.
As you go out to be a living witness,
as you go out to testify to God's love active in the world,
go knowing that God goes with you.
Thanks be to God! Amen.
