MUSIC PRELUDE
PROCESSIONAL HYMN:
"Jesus Christ is Risen Today" VU 155
LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE:
At the first light of dawn, the women went to the graveside.
Are not our hearts burning within us?
And there they found - nothing?
Are not our hearts lighted with fire?!
An empty tomb! The grave-clothes lying on the ground! Where is Jesus?
The Christ Candle is lit.
Christ is risen. Christ is risen, indeed!
Alleluia! Alleluia, amen!
CALL TO WORSHIP:
In this moment -- where mystic and modern meet;
In this moment -- of empty tombs and heavenly messengers;
In this moment -- of life, death, and resurrection;
We come. We come to wonder, we come hope,we come to be.
But most of all - we come to worship God! Alleluia! (Richard Bott, Vancouver)
OPENING PRAYER: (In unison)
Sing praises to God, you faithful, give thanks to God's holy name! Weeping
may linger for a night, but joy comes in the morning. God turns our weeping
to dancing and clothes us in gladness. May we praise God and not be silent!
Thanks to you, O God, forever! Amen.
And now let us continue to pray as we sing together THE LORD'S PRAYER.
