WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
CALL TO WORSHIP:
The Kingdom of God is like…
A grain of wheat.
The Kingdom of God is like…
A mustard seed.
The Kingdom of God is like…
A newborn baby.
The Kingdom of God is…
Growing in many ways We can't even begin to notice or imagine.
The Kingdom of God is…
The Kingdom of God is! Alleluia!
OPENING PRAYER
(in unison)
God, we raise our expectations as we worship today. Do not leave us content
to settle for a feel-good moment, for a tidbit of usable wisdom, for a
momentary easing of stress.
Let us come seeking an encounter with the risen Christ so that we may be
transformed to become his living body for the world. In that holy name we
pray. Amen.
We continue to pray with the words that Jesus taught us to pray,
speaking together:
THE LORD'S PRAYER.
HYMN:
"Take My Life and Let it Be" V.U. 506
SERVICE OF LIGHTING THE CANDLE:
Jesus Christ is the light of the world.
Jesus is our friend who loves us always.
WE HEAR GOD'S LOVING WORD FOR US
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION:
Compassionate One, open our hearts, our lives, and our senses to
revelations both old and new, for we are seeking newness in the message
that is as old as you. Amen.
This is the witness of the people of Israel.
Thanks be to God.
HYMN:
"God of Still Waiting" M.V. 20
